Spironolacton by Chaikapharma
Spironolactone is a diuretic. This ingredient promotes water excretion without causing potassium loss.
Well-known side effects of spironolactone include muscle cramps, dizziness, vomiting, upset stomach, diarrhea and low blood pressure.
Fitness: Spironolactone is used for weight loss or to improve muscle definition. Unlike furosemide, however, spironolactone is a less potent diuretic that is potassium-sparing. The active substance increases the excretion of water and salts, but keeps the potassium in the body. In the fitness area, the active ingredient is mainly used in a daily dose of 25 mg with a duration of up to four weeks. At this dosage is hardly to expect negative side effects.
Bodybuilding: Spironolactone is used increasingly again in competition athletes. Contrary to earlier claims, the intake of spironolactone is usually started three to four weeks before the competition day. Usually, athletes start 25 mg daily for the first 4 weeks. The dose is increased to 50 mg / day in the following two weeks. In the last week before the competition, the athletes will again increase by 50 mg to a total of 100 mg per day, in order to achieve the best possible results in terms of muscle definition with up to 150 mg daily for the last two days before the competition. Spironolactone retains potassium in the body, while water and sodium are increasingly excreted. This means that the often preferred by bodybuilders taking potassium supplements to positively influence the potassium-sodium ratio in the body on the day of the competition, can be life-threatening here. Therefore, an additional potassium feed should be excluded.
Women: Among women, spironolacton is very popular. The active ingredient is mild and can be taken without fear of side effects in the longer term. The daily dose of 25 mg helps to significantly lose weight and reduce water retention in the body. Nevertheless, spironolactone should not be taken for longer than 3 weeks as it may reduce the effects. Spironolactone does not contribute to fat burning, which is often mistaken for weight loss due to water loss.
